Enslaved Cabins
Original cabins donated by Entergy from Helvetia Plantation after Hurricane Betsy (1965). One side shows enslaved living quarters; the other, the cooper shop of Essex, an enslaved barrel maker on the plantation in the early 1800s.
Miller-Haydel Museum
The former Overseer's Cabin, now home to the German Coast Uprising and Rost Home Colony exhibits.
Louisiana Farm Barn
A sugar and textile museum on the grounds.
The Mule Barn
The plantation's historic barn, also used for weddings and private events.
The Wash House
An original outbuilding near the Gift Shop and Indigo Cafe.
Outdoor Kitchen
Rebuilt to its original specification and location, showing what meal preparation and cooking looked like for plantation families.
The Well & Laundry Building
An original well beside the laundry building, built in 1826 — a glimpse into the labor-intensive process of washing clothes in the 19th century.
